The braking on a SWB can be improved by replacing the 1.5inch wide brake drums and shoes with the 2.25inch wide versions from the 109. Both drums are 11inch diameter, The backplate will also have to be changed. If possible, you should source parts from a vehicle of similar age to your own to reduce compatibilty problems. It will also be necessary to replace the front flexible hoses, brake shoes, wheel cylinders and the brake master cylinder with the 109 versions.
